The Alexander McQueen brand has a tradition of visionary and avant-garde design. Alexander McQueen was founded in 1992 by Lee McQueen where he remained Creative Director until his passing in February 2010. Sarah Burton, who joined the company in 1996, had worked alongside Lee McQueen for more than 14 years was subsequently appointed Creative Director of the brand in May 2010.
Alexander McQueen designs have a reputation for being both controversial and hauntingly beautiful. After initially becoming well known for shocking runway shows, the fashion establishment embraced McQueen, who mixed his background of traditional English tailoring and theater costume design to create fantastical and, at times, dystopian, collections.
As with the rest of the brand's collections, McQueen eyeglasses are bold and and fashion-forward. Marked by thick temples, bright colored acetates, and metal accents, McQueen eyeglasses are striking and original.
When Sarah Burton took the reigns at McQueen, she continued his success but took the brand in her own direction. Burton was honored as the 2011 Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Award and also designed the wedding dress of Princess Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. Alexander McQueen operates in over 50 countries around the world including flagship stores in New York, London, Milan, Los Angeles and Beijing.
