It all started back in 1996 with an innovative idea...
Make it easy and affordable to buy eyewear online.
Our founders, optometrists Dr. Dhavid Cooper and Dr. Guy Hodgson, started as partners in a chain of successful optometric practices in Houston, Texas. But they dreamed of something bigger.
They wanted a way to provide patients with a better selection and more competitive pricing than they could offer in their brick and mortar practices.
With the Internet just gearing up for e-commerce, the timing couldn't have been better. The doctors assembled a small team to launch FramesDirect.com, doing most of the hands-on work themselves. In fact, Dr. Cooper designed and coded the original Website!
It's been 15 years since the doctors sold their first pair of glasses online, and we're proud to have provided quality eyewear to more than a million satisfied customers since then.

Hurricanes Rita, and Ike caused evacuations and power losses in Houston but FrameDirect.com barely missed a beat. As many as 20 customer service representatives relocated with the doctors to their ranch in Austin, TX, while others worked remotely from home and kept things going during the evacuation.
Eventually, we moved the customer service and marketing departments to the ranch in Austin. In 2010, the growing team relocated to an office just south of downtown.
Lots of things have changed over the years here at FramesDirect.com, but one thing hasn't changed, we're as dedicated as ever to taking care of your eyes.

We carry all the top brands of eyeglasses, sunglasses, prescription sunglasses, contact lenses and goggles, including Ray-Ban, Oakley, Gucci, Tom Ford and Maui Jim, just to name a few. We carry over over 100,000 products and 500 brands!

We offer fair, money-saving prices. Savings through us are as much as $150 or more on prescription eyewear and many designer sunglass lines. Our prescription lenses cost about half the price you would pay at most retail optical chains.
