Teklite
is Good for You
Thinner and
Lighter Lenses
Wearing eyeglasses for extended periods
can result in uncomfortable pressure
and pain at their points of contact,
especially with the added weight of
heavy lenses. Teklite lenses are nearly
50% lighter than standard plastic
ones making them ideal for fatigue-free
extended use.
Scratch and
Water Resistant
Scratches on the surface of a lens
tend to scatter light which results
in eye fatigue. Even though they are
light, Teklite lenses are some of
the most durable on the market today.
They are 12 times stronger than standard
plastic lenses so they resist scratching
and are also impact resistant.
During use, lenses come into contact
with moisture and natural oils produced
by hair and skin. Both of these tend
to disperse light and reduce its transmission,
adversely impacting your vision. All
Teklite lenses have built in finishes
that help repel oil and water and
prevent smudging.
SuperClear
Anti-Reflective Coating
Regular lenses only transmit about
91% of light to the eye. The rest
is lost to front and back surface
reflections. However, a revolutionary
coating developed to reduce reflections
on camera lenses is now available
for eyeglasses and comes standard
on every Teklite lens.
The innovative coating allows Teklite
lenses to transmit more light which
provides significant benefits for
eyeglass wearers. According to clinical
studies conducted by McGill University,
the University of Creteial, the College
of Optometry Cardiff and the Pacific
College of Optometry, anti-reflective
coating gives you:
| • |
20% increase in contrast sensitivity |
| • |
Improved night vision
and up to 5 seconds faster recovery
time after glare at night such
as seeing oncoming headlights |
| • |
Decreased screen glare and reduced
eyestrain while working on computers
|
| • |
30% wider field of vision at
night |
| • |
Less overhead fluorescent glare
|
| • |
Improved visual acuity |
Ultraviolet
Protection
Overtime, UV exposure can cause damage
to the delicate membranes of the eyes
increasing the risk of degeneration
of the retina and tissue growths that
can block vision. In addition, excess
UV exposure can lead to cloudiness
of the lens inside the eye creating
a cataract. All Teklite lenses provide
100% UV protection. |

Eco-Conscious
Manufacturing
The Teklite production process reclaims
more than 90% of the plastic left
over from the initial injection molding
stage of lens making for secondary
uses such as automobile and toy manufacturing.
Reduces Plastic
Waste
The Teklite lens is shipped in recyclable,
100% wood fiber cartons that are certified
by the Forest Stewardship Council.
We’ve also taken great care
to use responsible packing and shipping
practices when mailing Teklite to
customers. We use cardboard and paper
with post-consumer content and biodegradable
tissues instead of plastic bubble
wrap.
Benefits of
Using Less Plastic
Every ton of plastic that isn’t
produced and used saves:
| • |
The equivalent of
the amount of energy 2 people
would use in a year |
| • |
The equivalent amount of water
used by a person over a 2-month
period |
| • |
Approximately 2000 pounds of
oil |
Uses Less
Water to Produce
While applying the hard coating during
lens production, water from the cooling
system is recycled using a newly invented
system of cascading rinse baths. This
method consumes 50% less water than
the normal lens production process.
Repurposing
Gives New Sight
It is currently impossible to recycle
out-of-date prescription lenses. Creating
lenses with excellent optical quality
is a complex process that requires
the use of pure materials from the
start. The next best thing is repurposing.
We’re partnering with
New Eyes for the Needy to send
your out-of-date eyewear to someone
who can really use it.
