Transitions® VI Lenses
Promotes Healthy Sight
Transitions Lenses change from
clear to dark in the presence
of ultraviolet light and block 100% of harmful
UV rays. This innovative photochromic technology
has produced unparalleled eyewear performance.
Transitions Lenses are compatible with bifocals, trifocals,
progressives, shatter-resistant and standard lenses, and hi index materials.
Transitions Lenses
are also a perfect choices for children’s
eyeglasses.
High Tech and High Performance
Transitions Lenses begin to darken the moment they are exposed
to UV light. The greater the intensity of UV
rays, the darker the lenses become. The moment
UV rays are no longer present, the lenses begin
to fade back to clear. Most wearers report that the adjustment happens
so smoothly, they are unaware of it.
Transitions Lenses contain special photochromic dyes that
cause the lenses to activate, or darken, when
exposed to ultraviolet rays in sunlight. When
the UV light diminishes, the lenses fade back.
As light conditions change, the level of tint
adjusts, offering the right tint at the right
time. It’s important to note that the UV blockage
remains constant. Transitions Lenses provide automatic protection from UV
rays in both the clear and darkened states.
Transitions VI
also has expanded protection at the UV end of
the spectrum. Previous Transitions
Lenses blocked UVA (290 to 315nm) and
UVB (315 to 380nm), but Transitions
VI has expanded protection up to 400nm.
Perfect Candidates
Everyone can benefit from Transitions Lenses.
They provide convenient protection from glare, and block 100% of harmful
UV rays. This lens is ideal for children’s glasses, anyone with special
eye care needs, people who work around surfaces that produce glare like
water and cement, and those who spend a lot of time outdoors.
For Children
It’s never too early to start caring for your children’s eyes.
Children are excellent candidates for Transitions Lenses because their
eyes are more susceptible to UV radiation since they are continuing to develop.
It is estimated that 80% of total lifetime exposure to UV rays occurs before the age of 18.
Transitions Lenses block 100% of harmful UV radiation.
For Special Needs
Certain people develop a heightened sensitivity to light,
known as photosensitivity, and are more susceptible to visible light.
Photosensitivity can develop with conditions such as diabetes or recent
eye surgery. The condition can also be caused by taking certain prescription medications.
Some medications, even those used to treat conditions not related to vision,
can also cause the eyes to become more susceptible to damage from invisible UV rays.
Patients with special needs are excellent candidates for Transitions Lenses.
Drivewear®
Windshields in today’s vehicles block most of the UV rays that cause
Transitions Lenses to activate, or darken. As a result, when worn inside a car where less
UV light is present, the ability of the lenses to transition to dark is reduced.
A new category of lenses, called DriveWear, offers a unique and high-tech solution for driving.
Using the technology of Transitions Lenses, DriveWear combines the glare protection of polarized
prescription sunglasses and photochromics which respond to both visible and UV light.
The result is a lens that can react to light both outside and behind the windshield of the car,
and transition to dark accordingly. Drivewear lenses provide the ideal visual solution in today’s
world where the automobile is an important part of many peoples’ daily lives.
XTRActive®
For eyeglass wearers that are more sensitive to light than others, or spend more time in the sunlight,
Transitions now offers a suitable solution. XTRActive Lenses are similar to Transitions® VI, but offer the darkest tint
available, and a slight tint indoors. Intended for wearers who have an active outdoor lifestyle, XTRActive Lenses also have
a slower fade back time than Transitions VI, and like all Transitions Lenses, block 100% of UVA and UVB rays.
XTRActive also provide UV 400 protection to ensure that the wearer’s eyes are completely protected from the harmful
effects of the sun. Designed to transition to a darker tint when behind a windshield,
XTRActive are suitable for driving as well. XTRActive Lenses are not intended to replace Transitions VI,
just offer a solution for wearers who spend more time outside, and prefer a light tint to their glasses when inside.
