John Lennon Eyewear
Any great photograph could easily be described as a captured fraction of a second capable of infinite inspiration. The subject of our first impression is one of rock?s icon couples, John and Yoko, as snapped by one of rock?s most famous photographers, Ida S. Langsam.
Part of the beauty of this portrait is that it defies every standard criteria of a typical picture featuring glasses. Common sense would dictate that an eyewear picture show a frame from the front, defining the wearer?s full face and framing the eyes of that person. This picture achieves its stature by showing the frame from the side dramatically highlighted by Lennon?s profile and Yoko?s intense gaze.
The picture was taken during the early ?70s while John was being politically burdened by the immigration laws of the United States. The style of his specs shows John was thankfully out of step with most of the more grotesque eyewear trends of that decade. Lennon?s taste in eyewear was timeless as evidenced by the fact that a John Lennon collection of sun and ophthalmic styles thrives via Ambassador Eyewear.
