Photochromic lenses darken to adapt to changing light conditions when exposed to UV rays, but car windshields include UV-blocking filters that prevent the lenses from changing—so standard photochromic lenses are not ideal for driving. Enter Drivewear® lenses, created by Transitions® to solve that problem. Drivewear lenses can sense and react to varying light conditions both outside and behind the windshield of the car. From bright sunlight accompanied by intense, blinding glare, to overcast inclement conditions, Drivewear lenses provide the ideal tint for any light conditions. Plus, a wide variety of glasses frames can accommodate Drivewear lenses, resulting in eyewear that meets your needs for fashion and function.
Drivewear® lenses are a type of advanced photochromic lens that includes polarization technology to reduce glare from the road and other surfaces—as well as photochromic technology to enhance and protect your vision even behind a UV-blocking windshield. Unlike regular photochromic lenses that react to only UV light, Drivewear lenses react to both visible and UV light—so they’ll darken behind the wheel. Polarized Drivewear lenses even adjust to provide contrast in overcast or low-light conditions.
Drivewear® lenses are not intended for nighttime driving situations. They are sun lenses that adjust to suit the light conditions outdoors and in the car—including overcast or low-light conditions—but they are never completely clear and thus are not suitable for wearing at night.
